Francis Bradley:
Security and Infrastructure
Since leading CEA’s Y2K initiative in the late 1990s, Francis has been directing the Association’s security and infrastructure protection activities. He was a co-author for five years of the annual North American Electric Industry Outlook published jointly by the Washington International Energy Group and CEA. Francis is Vice President of Policy development and is presently pursuing a graduate degree at Carleton University’s Norman Paterson School of International Affairs in Intelligence and National Security. bradley@electricity.ca
Patrick Brown:
U.S. Affairs
As Director, U.S. Affairs, Patrick manages the Association’s engagement in U.S. legislative, regulatory and policy processes, and assesses the potential impacts of U.S. public policy on CEA members. His professional background includes advising a broad range of international energy companies on North American energy market issues. He holds a Master of Arts in International Affairs, with a concentration in international energy policy from The George Washington University. brown@electricity.ca

Daniel Gent:
Industry Analytics
CEA offers a program that helps industry participants leverage benchmarking analytical data to drive business improvement within their own organization. As Director of the CEA Analytics program, Daniel leads the organization’s analytics activities. He has over 16 years of data-related experience in business intelligence services, data analytics and data quality analysis. He holds an Honours Bachelor in Social Studies and a Business Administration Certificate from the University of Ottawa as well as a Business Analyst Master’s Certificate from York University’s Schulich School of Business. He also holds an ITIL v3 Foundation Certificate - ITIL is the only consistent and comprehensive documentation of best practice for IT Service Management. gent@electricity.ca

Ann Kelly:
Customer and Energy Efficiency
As Director of Customer and Human Resources (HR), Ann has responsibility for CEA’s Customer Council and CEA’s HR Committee. As part of her work with the Customer Council, Ann has focused on initiatives and government policy relating to energy efficiency and conservation. Prior to joining CEA, Ann was involved in the telecommunications industry during the transition from monopoly service providers to a competitive landscape and has a wide range of experience in international consulting, marketing, investment, customer systems and service provision. Ann has an undergraduate degree (Honours) from the University of Guelph and a Master of Public Administration from Carleton University. kelly@electricity.ca
Devin McCarthy:
Transmission, Distribution and Smart Grid Standards Development
The pace of innovation in the electricity distribution sector has steadily increased over the past decade – distribution system automation, advanced metering infrastructure, electric vehicles, distributed generation and distributed energy storage are each technological trends that could have a profound impact on how the industry delivers electricity. This innovation coincides with a need to replace and expand electricity infrastructure across Canada. As Director of Transmission and Distribution, Devin helps to shape and communicate industry approaches to these issues with a focus on high-level business impacts and the continually evolving federal government participation. Alexis McIntyre:
Environmental Science and Policy
As Manager, Environmental Science and Policy, Alexis works with CEA's members on emerging federal environmental regulatory and policy initiatives. She ensures that proposed government regulations are informed by accurate, up-to-date environmental knowledge and that proper consideration is given to the challenges faced by the industry as it supplies safe, reliable, affordable and environmentally responsible power to Canadians. She has worked as a Program Manager with the Cumulative Environmental Management Association in the Athabasca oil sands developing guidance documents to inform provincial environmental policies, as well as in an operations role within the Parliament of Canada. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from McGill University and a Master of Science in Environmental Chemistry from Trent University. mcintyre@electricity.ca

Channa Perera:
Sustainability
Ensuring a sustainable future for Canadians is an important priority for the electricity industry. In his twelve years with CEA, Channa has served in a variety of environmental portfolios. As Director of Sustainable Development, he is responsible for the industry’s Sustainable Electricity Program aimed at continuous improvement of member sustainability performance. Channa has a background in climate change strategy and outreach for the federal Department of Industry. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Legal Studies and a Master of Arts in Political Science from Carleton University in Ottawa. He also has a Masters Certificate in Project Management, from Schulich School of Business (York University) and Sprott School of Business (Carleton University). perera@electricity.ca
Sandra Schwartz:
Public Affairs and Policy Advocacy
The ability to build needed electricity infrastructure is key to the economic development and prosperity of Canada. As Vice President of Policy Advocacy, Sandra applies her extensive experience in environmental, energy and climate change policy development to CEA’s communications, public affairs and government relations efforts. Her past experiences in the offices of the Leader of the Opposition and the federal Minister of Environment, as well as with the Canadian Wind Energy Association, position her well to lead CEA’s advocacy efforts at overcoming the barriers to timely investment in infrastructure. Geoff Smith:
Advancing Electricity Sector Priorities in Ottawa
Engaging with Parliamentarians and federal officials on electricity issues is a key function CEA undertakes on behalf of members. As Director of Government Relations, Geoff is responsible for developing relationships and identifying opportunities to advance CEA priorities in Ottawa. Prior to joining CEA, Geoff served ten years in advisory roles to the Ministers of Industry; Citizenship and Immigration; and to several Members of Parliament. As a campaign manager, advisor, and volunteer, he has been active in federal elections since 1997. He holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree in Political Studies from Queen’s University. smith@electricity.ca
Michelle Turner:
Generation and Environment
Investment in electricity generating infrastructure is key to achieving Canada’s energy and sustainability priorities. CEA aims to strike a balance between investing to meet the electricity needs of Canadians and protecting species and habitat. As Director, Generation and Environment at CEA, Michelle is responsible for developing and advocating for policies that advance these objectives. She holds a Master's of Science degree in Biology, and has a strong background in environmental science and assessment, coupled with years of environmental policy experience both in the public and private sectors. turner@electricity.ca
Tracy Walden:
Communications
As Director of Communications, Tracy provides expertise and leadership in all areas of communications and advances strategies directed at a range of audiences from media to federal stakeholders with the goal of building on CEA’s positioning as the voice of electricity in Canada. Tracy has over fifteen years of progressive responsibility at tactical and strategic levels. She brings to CEA a unique and broad range of proven expertise in communications, marketing, member services, training, events, and information management. She holds a Bachelor of Education and a post-graduate Education diploma, both from the University of New Brunswick. walden@electricity.ca
Julien Wu:
Finance and Tax
As Manager of Financial Policy at CEA, Julien is responsible for developing and advocating sound fiscal and accounting policies on behalf of the industry. Julien has two years of experience managing electricity transmission issues within CEA. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree from McGill University, a Master of Science in Business Intelligence from the University of Montreal, and is currently completing a Master of Arts degree in Sustainable Energy Policy at Carleton University. wu@electricity.ca
