  • Nova Scotia Tidal Power Corp. commissions North America's first tidal generating station in 1984.
  • By 1985, nuclear generation's share of total generated
  • electricity stands at 13 per cent. Through the decade, nine nuclear stations begin operations in New Brunswick, Ontario and Québec.
  • In 1986, Hydro-Québec builds the Kuujjuaq Wind Turbine demonstration project in Québec's Far North.
  • Also in 1986, Hydro-Québec completes phase 1 of the
