CEA Safety Awards

The CEA Safety Awards recognize and celebrate excellence in workplace safety and public safety. We commend the electric utility industry’s collective effort and strong performance in providing a safe workplace for their employees who build and maintain our electricity infrastructure across Canada.

CEA President’s Award of Excellence for Employee Safety
The safety record of our member’s most valued resources, their employees, has been tracked for more than 30 years by CEA.  Annually, CEA has recognized the best performing companies.  Since 1995, CEA has presented the CEA President’s Award of Excellence for Employee Safety. To receive the CEA President’s Award, a reporting utility must be ranked within the top quartile for both All Injury/Illness Frequency and Lost-Time Injury Severity rates.

There are three award levels BronzeSilver and Gold:
  • Bronze for the companies who meet the award criteria for the given year;
  • Silver for meeting the criteria two consecutive years; and
  • Gold for three or more consecutive years.

Demonstrating their long-standing commitment to the safety of employees, CEA’s utility members reported an overall improvement in workplace safety over the years.  Accordingly,  member utility safety performance overall within the last decade has consistently improved in the areas of All Injury/Illness Frequency, Lost-Time Injury/Illness Frequency and Lost-Time Injury Severity rates.
