About CEA Members
Canadian Electricity Association (CEA) members generate, transmit and distribute electrical energy to industrial, commercial, residential and institutional customers across Canada every day. From vertically integrated electric utilities, to power marketers, to the manufacturers and suppliers of materials, technology and services that keep the industry running smoothly -- all are represented by this national industry association.
CEA at Work for Members
CEA’s mandate is to provide leadership in advancing the interests of the electricity industry at a national level, and within provincial and international jurisdictions where there are collective national interests.
CEA offers members a broad range of innovative programs and services in addition to delivering a coherent and convincing industry viewpoint to decision makers on critical policy and regulatory issues. Membership in the association allows utilities and other related businesses to collaborate on issues affecting the electricity sector, participate in developing industry positions related to these issues, and contribute to setting the agenda for advocacy efforts directed at government officials and regulators in Ottawa and in Washington.
CEA Membership Catagories
CEA maintains three member categories to address the needs and diverse interests of stakeholders operating within the electricity industry.
- Corporate Utility Members – these include companies that generate, transmit, distribute or market electricity.
- Corporate Partner Members – these include manufacturers and suppliers of materials, technology and services to the electricity sector.
- Associate Members – these include small regional and municipal utilities or other organizations that are associated with the electricity sector or have a special interest in electricity issues.
Separate Fee-for-Service Offering
The CEA Analytics Program provides the ongoing collection, analysis and annual reporting on the reliability of Canada’s power generation, transmission and distribution system.
Available as a separate pay-for-use service, this service is open to CEA members and non-members alike.
