Net zero: countdown clock to a clean electricity grid

The clock is ticking to 2035

Under Canada’s net-zero plan, Canada will stop its reliance on fossil fuels by mid-century. In order to achieve this, the electricity sector needs to be net zero, and build the systems required to eliminate greenhouse gas emissions from our sector, by the end of 2035.

The countdown clock in Electricity Canada’s CEO Francis Bradley’s office shows how many days we have left to do this.

While Canada has the advantage of already having one of the cleanest electricity grids in the world (over 80% of Canada’s electric power doesn’t use fossil fuels to generate it) there is still much to be planned and built – and soon.
