About Electricity Now

Electricity Now is a national, bilingual, standardized, grade 9/10 electricity and climate change educational resource developed by Electricity Canada and Electricity Human Resources Canada and is supported by the electricity sector for use by school boards across Canada. Electricity Now is based on the Pan-Canadian Science Protocol, follows national curriculum guidelines and is aligned with the Smarter Science Framework. It includes six interactive modules with 13 lessons featuring hands-on activities, multimedia content and teacher guides. Resources are available in a variety of editable electronic files. Electricity Now provides youth electricity & climate change education and career visioning while addressing many current government, industry, and education challenges. Electricity Now was launched November 2024 and is viewed as an opportunity to educate up to 9M youth nationally by 2050. Electricity Now is offered by participating utility electricity service providers (Power Partners) to local school boards. As national rollout continues to ramp up, currently 6 utility Power Partners are engaged with 19 school boards/districts representing 294 high schools and a total K-12 enrollment of over 660,000 students. Elements from Electricity Canada’s flagship industry training resource Electricity Fundamentals in Canada which has an enrollment of over 13,000 are included in Electricity Now.
