Canada’s electricity grid operators have long been focused on modernizing the grid in anticipation of the transition to clean transportation. Not only is the adoption of EVs vital for meeting climate targets and promoting sustainable transportation, EVs have a crucial role to play for the increasing integration of renewable energy and energy storage solutions on Canada’s smart grid.

”We recognize that the experience of the consumer is key to the sale of EVs and the acceleration of the transition to a clean transportation sector,” said Francis Bradley, President and CEO of Electricity Canada. “It is inspiring to have an awards program that identifies and rewards exemplary efforts to make it easier for consumers to choose EVs powered by Canada’s clean and reliable electricity.”

In December 2023, Canada introduced a sales mandate for 100% zero emission light duty vehicles by 2035, with an interim target of 20% by 2026.

“Meeting Canada’s sales targets for EVs is going to take a lot of hard work and innovation across the board,“ said Cara Clairman, Plug’n Drive’s President and CEO. “These awards recognize success among the industry players, as well as the EV advocacy groups, communities, and car dealerships on the frontlines addressing consumer questions and concerns one person at a time.”

“We are proud to be a sponsor of the Canadian Electric Vehicle Awards Program,” says Ian Jack, Vice President, Public Affairs at the Canadian Automobile Association (CAA). “We believe in the power of celebrating those who educate and guide Canadians as we continue on the path to accessible, affordable, practical, and reliable EVs for drivers.”

Nominations will be evaluated by an external judging committee comprised of Canadian EV experts drawn from industry, non-profit organizations, government, and the media.

Nominations will close on July 16, 2024. For more information and to access the online nomination forms for each award: Electric Vehicle Awards Program.

The winners will be announced at the Awards luncheon on September 12, 2024 in Halifax at EVVE 2024, Canada’s biggest electric vehicle event held annually by Electric Mobility Canada, the hosting sponsor of the Awards program.
