The Energy Affordability Champion recognizes an Electricity Canada member for exceptional leadership and innovation in advancing electricity affordability through a solution, program, or initiative.
Affordability is central to public trust in energy companies, to the political durability of electricity policy, and to the wellbeing of Canadian households. As the electricity sector navigates significant investment requirements in generation, transmission, grid modernization, and electrification, the tension between necessary infrastructure buildout and customer bill impacts is one of the defining challenges of the economy.
This award celebrates Electricity Canada members who are meeting that challenge through creative approaches. Customer facing innovations may include rate design, bill assistance, demand response programs, and stakeholder engagement. System level innovations may include program delivery, financing structures, procurement approaches and regional collaboration. Recognized initiatives could include innovations not listed above but must demonstrate measurable improvement in affordability outcomes.
This award is sponsored by Crux Energy Consulting.
