Empowering Youth - High school students learn electricity and climate solutions with new Electricity Now resource.

Toronto, ON (November 26) Electricity Human Resources Canada (EHRC) and Electricity Canada are proud to announce the launch of Electricity Now, a comprehensive suite of teaching resources designed for Grade 9 and 10 students. These resources align with the national science curriculum in Canada and aim to educate young minds about the electricity sector and the critical issue of climate change.

Electricity Now will provide hands-on learning and bring together climate change and electricity education to fuel sustainable action in the electricity sector. The educational resources will increase climate change awareness, the benefits of electrification and demonstrate a range of career opportunities available in the electricity sector.

Along with EHRC and Electricity Canada, the development of Electricity Now has been made possible through the generous support of several founding industry-leading “Power Partners” including Alectra Utilities, Canadian Nuclear Association, Canadian Union of Skilled Workers, Elexicon Energy, Fortis Alberta, Georgian College, Hydro One, Hydro Ottawa, NB Power, Saint John Energy, SaskPower, Toronto Hydro and WaterPower Canada. This initiative underscores the electricity sector’s commitment to increase education on current and emerging energy and environmental issues among the next generation.

The official launch took place at Electricity Canada’s Powering Partnerships Summit on Tuesday, November 26 in Toronto.

The Electricity Now teaching materials and resources will be offered to school boards across the country by participating Electricity Now Power Partners. More details are available at electricitynow.ca
