As part of SaskPower’s efforts for Truth and Reconciliation with Indigenous groups in Saskatchewan, the Crown Corporation employed a unique design for the 9th floor lobby conference room at its head office in Regina.
The frosted windows of the meeting room have been etched with multiple images of Indigenous and First Nations peoples performing cultural dances, as well as Indigenous symbols such as the Metis infinity sign and Red River cart. Inside the room, various Indigenous symbols have been added as well as a unique boardroom table that displays the first surveyed and historic maps of the numbered Treaty Territories.
This collaborative effort and design demonstrates thecompany’s commitment to building and sustaining Indigenous Relations and will set the tone for Treaty awareness education, as well as provide an intriguing talking space for internal staff meetings and external engagement meetings for all SaskPower employees to access and enjoy.
